Evolution Of Yachts

Yachts have evolved since the 1600s when the Dutch yacht is a boom. The word “Yacht” comes from the Dutch word “Jacht” which means Hunt. The reason behind these ships associated with the word hunt is they were fast and light to pursuit by the Dutch Navy. Since then they have grown and evolved from naval expedition ships into superyachts.

In 1620, Charles II sailed from England to Netherlands using yacht, from then ships utilised by the wealthy people. In Spite of its origins chasing ships for its speed, this Federation with the British empire meant that yachts used for transporting those who can afford them with enough money. Through this, the sales of yacht increase across Europe as the ships increasingly used for carrying both cargo and people over long distances.

Yachts in the present day: From hundreds of years ago, a significant change observed today is yachts are no longer sailing boats, they contain engines now. According to size, there are a number of ships afloat which exceed 100 metres in length.

There are several types of yachts that include racing Yachts, superyacht charter South of France, luxury sailing yachts, daily yachts and weekender yachts. Privately-owned yachts, as well as cruises, are used for leisure activities.

Presently, yachts are yet known for being associated with the famous and rich.
